At Flux we love bringing renewable power to homes across Greater Manchester today we look at the Solar & Battery Installation in Wigan. Our latest project took us to Wigan where we designed and installed a 4.5 kW solar photovoltaic (PV) system paired with a 10.52 kWh battery. This combination gives the homeowner clean electricity during the day and stored solar energy to use in the evening, reducing their reliance on the grid and cutting their energy bills.
Solar & Battery Installation in Wigan

Dual‑aspect roof for maximum generation
This property benefits from both south‑facing and north‑east‑facing roof slopes. We installed part of the array on the south face to harvest the peak midday sun and the remainder on the north‑east face to extend generation into the morning and late afternoon. A dual‑aspect layout smooths the energy curve throughout the day and, when combined with battery storage, ensures there is solar energy available well into the evening.

Battery & Inverter – Solar & Battery Installation in Wigan
The heart of this system is a 10.52 kWh Fox Energy battery coupled with a high‑quality inverter. During daylight hours any surplus solar electricity charges the battery; when the sun goes down, the stored energy is discharged back into the home, minimising import from the grid. The battery can cover essential evening loads, run kitchen appliances and even charge devices overnight.

The battery is neatly mounted on a wall adjacent to the inverter and connected to the consumer unit. We fitted isolation switches and warning labels so the system meets safety standards and is easy to service.

What the homeowner can expect
According to the Effective Home guide, solar panels typically reduce household electricity bills by 50–70 % – around £300–£700 per year. Adding a battery can increase these savings to around 70 % because excess generation is stored rather than exported cheaply. The UK’s Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) means any surplus energy exported back to the grid will earn the homeowner £220–£320 annually.
This Wigan installation qualifies for the government’s 0 % VAT on domestic solar, saving the client up to £1,000–£3,000 on installation costs. With typical annual savings of £485–£1,110 on electricity, the system is expected to break even in 6–8 years.
Client feedback
The homeowner was thrilled with the quick and tidy installation. They remarked on how seamlessly the team worked and appreciated the thorough handover, which included guidance on monitoring the system through a smartphone app. They are already tracking their energy production and enjoying the satisfaction of seeing their meter run backwards!
